What is Rehabilitation Services?

The focus of rehabilitation is on the restoration of persons with physical/emotional disabilities, mental retardation, substance abuse, and/or criminal records. The rehabilitation worker provides and coordinates services for restoring persons with disabilities to their fullest physical, mental, social, and economic capabilities.

Career directions with a B.A./B.S.:

Entry level positions in a variety of human service settings, such as rehabilitation centers, sheltered workshops, drug and alcohol programs, senior citizen centers, community mental health and mental retardation centers, corrections systems, and hospitals.

Career directions with a graduate degree:

Many Rehab graduates go on to attend graduate school in areas such as human services programs, elementary or secondary guidance, student personnel work, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and rehabilitation counseling.
