What is Health Policy and Administration?
HPA prepares students for management (business) and policy positions or graduate study in the field of health care. The PSU department's mission is to provide education and research that contributes to higher quality, better access, and lower costs in health care systems.
Career directions with a B.A./B.S.:
Entry-level positions in finance, human resources, marketing, and other management fields in a variety of health care settings (e.g., long-term care organizations, physician group practices, managed care companies, state health, welfare, and insurance departments, and private trade and research organizations. Other graduates pursue graduate education in medicine, health law, public health, business or health administration, or health services research and policy.
Career directions with a graduate degree:
Health administration, health services, public health, epidemiology, health services or policy research in an academic or research organization setting, and policy positions in state and federal government. Many HPA students go on to get professional degrees in medicine or law, or return to school to get an MHA or MBA.
