Co-Funding of Faculty

College and Departmental Commitments (Written Agreement)

  • Departments and colleges must commit to enhancing education in CYFC interest areas.
  • Departments and colleges must ensure that the faculty member will have the opportunity to teach courses in the area(s) that the appointment was intended to enhance.
  • There must be a plan for how the faculty member will engage with other faculty across the university in CYFC networking and other interdisciplinary CYFC activities.
  • The departments and colleges will not assign significant departmental administrative or other service loads in order to allow these faculty sufficient time for CYFC networking.
  • There must be a commitment to recognizing appropriate interdisciplinary network activities as worthy scholarly and service functions in any performance reviews.
  • Written agreements associated with CYFC hires will be maintained in the CYFC offices with copies in the hiring department and college.
  • The CYFC will issue a yearly report that describes how new co-funded faculty have contributed to the educational, research and outreach goals of the CYFC.
