Co-Funding of Faculty

Procedures for Submitting Co-Funded Faculty Proposals

The Dean of each college may submit up to 2 proposals in any of the theme areas with the total number of proposals not exceeding 4 per year per college. Proposals should not exceed 3-4 pages and should include the following information:

  1. Statement of financial support to pay 50% of the salary and 50% of the start-up costs.
  2. Justification for why the position would best be supported in a specific department/unit.
  3. Discuss how this position would fit within the college and department strategic long-range plan. Further, discuss how placing this position in the department would create a cluster of expertise or relate to existing faculty within the department as well as how this position would interrelate with an interdisciplinary (i.e., cross-department, cross-college) network.
  4. Discuss how this position would meet specific departmental teaching and outreach needs.
  5. Identify ways in which the faculty member's activities (teaching, research, outreach) might bridge across departmental lines.
  6. Guidelines for co-funded faculty position proposals are included in Attachment 2.
